NEW Safety System

important notice

Bryan City Schools Launches New Safety System

Beginning on Monday, March 2, 2020, Bryan City Schools will launch a new visitor management system that enhances the security of students during the school day. Ident-A-Kid Visitor Management is a program that will now be utilized at Bryan Elementary and Bryan Middle/High School that improves the process of approving visitors into the school buildings.

Upon arrival to our buildings during the school day visitors will now be asked to provide their driver's license and their reason for visiting the building.

Each time a visitor signs in, their driver's license and/or their name and date of birth are compared against a sex offender database. By having this system cross-reference an individual's credentials with the sex-offender database it will create an extra layer of safety for our students and our staff. BCS will only require visitors who will be entering the building and interacting with our students to scan in. If a parent or guest is simply stopping into the office to drop off a lunch or a note with our secretarial staff they can perform this quick visit without ever having to leave the office and will therefore not need to scan in. Events that have large numbers of guests and that are heavily monitored by administrative staff, our teaching staff, and our school resource officers (ie: grandparents day) will not require visitors to check in through the office. Typically these are events are held in, and contained to, the common and public areas of district facilities (ie: gym and cafe).

Once scanned and approved the visitor will receive a custom photo ID badge that contains information pertaining to the individual's visit, including the time, reason, and destination of the visitor.

Bryan City Schools is very excited to use this system that keeps our student's safety and well being a top priority! We ask that our visitors begin to make it a habit to bring their driver's license with them so that the use of this system can be utilized appropriately.

We thank you for working with us to help keep our students and staff safe while in their learning environment. We firmly believe this system will add another layer of safety to our district. We thank you in advance for your cooperation as we roll out this new process.

Please remember, beginning Monday, March 2, 2020, the system will go live and we ask visitors to be sure to bring their driver's license with them.
