2018-19 Boys Tennis

The Bryan Golden Bears are heading to state for back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.

Jay Fortner advances to the district semifinals on Saturday morning for state seeding purposes. Fortner defeated Miranda Wills (Ada) 6-3, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, Fortner defeated Tommy Secrist (Lexington) by a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Caleb Zuver & Case Hartman lost to the brother duo of Carter & Colin Welch (Ottawa Glandorf) by a score of 7-5, 6-7(5), 3-6.

Ottawa Glandorf’s Drew Kuhlman & Parker Schomaeker defeated Bryan’s Keegan McCashen & Brendan Reiser, 2-6, 6-2, 4-6

The team portion of the tennis season came to an end for Bryan on Monday evening.

The Golden Bears were downed by the Lexington Minutemen, 5-0. Bryan ends the season with a record of 16-3.

The Bryan tennis team punched 5 tickets to districts after a solid showing at the DII sectional tournament at Defiance College.

Moving on for the Golden Bears are a pair of doubles teams, four seed Case Hartman & Caleb Zuver along with two seed Keegan McCashen & Brendan Reiser, along with singles player, Jay Fortner (two seed in sectional). Sectional finals are slated for Saturday morning at 9am and districts will kick off on Thursday at BGSU. Bryan will travel to Lexington on Monday to compete on the regional semifinals of the OTCA tournaments.

The Bryan Golden Bear's tennis team dropped their regular season finale, 2-3, to Anthony Wayne.
Wins from Bryan came from Jay Fortner and Carter Brown. The loss brings the Golden Bear's record to 16-2 on the year. Bryan will play in the OHSAA sectional tournament on Thursday at Defiance College.

The Bryan tennis team traveled to Galion for the regional quarterfinals of the OTCA (Ohio Tennis Coach's Association) Tournament.

The Golden Bears took down the host, Galion by a score of 4-1. The team now is in advances to the regional semifinals (Sweet 16) of the state tournament. Bryan will travel to Anthony Wayne on Monday for their last regular season match.

NOTE: With this win, the 2019 boys team is now 16-1 on the season which sets a new school record for wins (previously held by 3 teams each with 15 wins). Bryan still has one regular season match left along with any other OTCA Tournament matches they have left.

The Bryan boys tennis team captured the Northern Buckeye Tennis League Tournament title.

Bryan freshman Jay Fortner was the first singles champion along with juniors Case Hartman & Reese Jackson taking the second doubles championship. Junior Caleb Zuver was the third singles runner up and the pair of Brendan Reiser & Keegan McCashen were first doubles runners-up. The team travels to Galion on Saturday morning to compete in the regional quarterfinals of the OTCA team tournament.

Golden Bears Beat Elida

The Bryan tennis team improved to 14-1 on the season with a 4-1 win at Elida on Tuesday night. Jay Fortner and Caleb Zuver got wins in singles. Brendan Reiser & Keegan McCashen came from behind to get a first doubles win and Case Hartman & Reese Jackson cruised to a second doubles victory.

Golden Bears Win 5-0

The Bryan tennis team traveled to Rossford on Saturday morning for a bottle with the Bulldogs. The Golden Bears came away with a 5-0 win. Freshman Carter Brown and junior Caleb Zuver earned singles wins along with the junior duo of Reese Jackson & Noah Meyer in doubles action. Bryan is now 13-1 on the season.

Bryan dropped their first match of the year 3-2 to Ottawa Hills on Tuesday evening.

Ottawa Hills swept the singles while Bryan took both doubles matches. The loss brings Bryan's record to 12-1 on the season and they will host Archbold on Thursday.

Jay Fortner never gave up a point, while Carter Brown and Noah Meyer blanked their opponents in singles. Reese Jackson and Zach Seaman were winners in doubles action. The Bryan tennis has started the season 12-0 for the first time since 1986 and will host Ottawa Hills on Tuesday.

Bryan improves to 10-0 on the year with a 4-1 win against Wauseon on Tuesday night. Laser-focused Jay Fortner along with a stoic Caleb Zuver led the way in singles along with determined doubles teams of Keegan McCashen & Brendan Reiser and Case Hartman & Reese Jackson got it done in doubles action for the Golden Bears. Bryan will compete with Defiance, Wauseon, and Archbold on Saturday at the Northwest Ohio Doubles Tournament held at Archbold High School on Saturday morning.

Boys Tennis Start With a Win

The Bryan Golden Bears boy's tennis team opened up their season with a 3-2 win against Springfield on Monday night in Bryan. Bryan dropped both first and second singles but was able to sweep the doubles matches and get a win in third singles. Bryan returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to Bowling Green.
