Announcements for the week of May 13th

Friday, May 16th

Attention Seniors: Your Caps & Gowns will be delivered on Friday May 24th, during Graduation Practice. You will need to pay your remaining balance due to pick up your cap & gown. Please make your final payment online or have the exact amount in cash on delivery day. Personal Checks are no longer accepted.

 

Congratulations to the following students who crushed it during the Special Olympics Track and Field!

  • Kaela Egler showed off her mad skills by placing 2nd in the softball throw and 4th in the 100M dash.

  • Madison McClain came home with a blue ribbon in the tennis throw and 3rd place in the 25M independent walk.

  • Xavier Jones had fast feet by placing 3rd in the independent walk and 3rd in the tennis throw.

  • Tracey Williams a.k.a. Nugget sure did show Mrs. Golz how to run by placing 2nd in the 50M dash and 2nd in softball throw.

  • John Washington decided to take a look at the scenery and place 5th in the softball throw but kept his cool with his shade on by placing 2nd in 100M dash.

  • Chase Fenstermaker had crowd cheering him on as his placed 3rd in the softball throw and 2nd in the 50M dash.

If Athletic Training interests you, sign up outside the AD office for information on a Student Athletic Training program we may offer for the Fall of 2019. This is for grades 9-12 in the Fall.

Jr. High Girls planning to attend the Wauseon Playing Camp need to get your registration and money to Coach Grosjean by today.  This camp is for girls planning to play 7th and 8th grade basketball next season. See Coach Grosjean if you need a registration form.

 

Friday, May 24th during AA there will be a mandatory meeting for all students enrolled in AP Chemistry for the 2019-2020 school year. Summer study information will be provided (exciting, I KNOW!!!) and Gclassroom information will also be discussed. (5/24)

Girls 4x800 relay finished 3rd, and qualified for regionals next week at Piqua- Shallyn Miley, Haylee Wheeler, Addie Oberlin, Audrey Zimmerman. Keegan Brown finished 2nd in the shot put and also qualified for regionals.

Any student, new or returning, taking Internship/Work Force development - Mrs. Arthur and Mrs. Bassett will be meeting with you during AA on Thursday, May 23rd on the teaching stairs.  Please let Mrs. Arthur or Mrs. Bassett know if you are unable to attend.

 

Bryan JV Baseball fell to Anthony Wayne 10-0 in 5 innings on Thursday. They finish their season at 13-10.

The Bryan Golden Bears are heading to state for back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history. Jay Fortner advances to the district semifinals on Saturday morning for state seeding purposes. Fortner defeated Miranda Wills (Ada) 6-3, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, Fortner defeated Tommy Secrist (Lexington) by a score of 6-2, 6-3.

 

Caleb Zuver & Case Hartman lost to the brother duo of Carter & Colin Welch (Ottawa Glandorf) by a score of 7-5, 6-7(5), 3-6.

 

Ottawa Glandorf’s Drew Kuhlman & Parker Schomaeker defeated Bryan’s Keegan McCashen & Brendan Reiser, 2-6, 6-2, 4-6

HS Blood Drive
The BHS Spring Blood Drive will be this Wednesday in the gym.  If you would like to give blood and have not signed up yet, come see Mrs. Elser or Mrs. Noethen.  You must be 16 years old to give blood and if you are just 16, you MUST have a form signed by your parents.  You must a have NEW form signed each time you give blood until you turn 17.  You can get this form from Mrs. Noethen or Mrs. Elser.   Please help save a life!!  Give blood!
 
 
Freshman Class Meeting
There will be a freshman class meeting today during AA in the gym.
 
 
Girl's Basketball - Open Gym
There will be girls open gym at the Elementary from 3:00-4:30 on Wednesday. This is for girls in grades 6-12.

MS & HS Cheer Tryouts
Junior high and high school cheerleading tryout clinics will begin today for anyone in 6th through 11th grade that is interested in trying out for the 2019-2020 seasons. If you have any questions please contact Coach Moor by email - cheerleading@bryanschools.net
 
 
JH Track
The Bryan Jr. High track team concluded its’ season at the NWOAL Championships on Saturday in Wauseon. The Bryan girls team finished in 4th place overall and the boys finished in 8th.
Top finishers for the Lady Bears were Ella Voigt winning the league title in the long jump, Rachel Fireovid placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in the long jump, Kailee Thiel placed 2nd in the 800, and Molly Hess placed 3rd in the 800.
Rylan Garza was an individual champion in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash for the Bryan boys. The 4x200 relay of Chris Damron, Dylan New, Xander Cagle, and Rylan Garz placed 2nd.

Attention all Jr. High track team members. End-of-Year awards are tomorrow, Tuesday May 14th in the commons after school. All team members need to turn in their jerseys at the awards.

Sectional finals were held on Saturday morning at Defiance College. Jay Fortner earned the 2-seed for districts. The pairing of Reiser/McCashen earned a 3 seed and Zuver/Hartman will be the 4 seed. All district competitors will play on Thursday at Bowling Green State University.

Softball
The Bryan Lady Bears split games at the Wauseon JV tournament Saturday 5/11 on a windy cool day and ended their season 9-8. The first game matched Wauseon against Bryan, the lady bears got off to a terrible start; giving up 9 runs (1 earned) in the first 2 innings on 1 hit, 7 passed balls 5 walks and 4 errors. The Bears came back within 5 runs in the third but had another bad inning in the fifth inning which resulted in a run rule in 6 innings 17-7. As a Team the Lady Bears hit .417; individually Hitting for the Bears: Bre Long went 3-3 with a double, Kenzie Adams 2-3 both singles, Jaelyn Hall 1-3 a double), Alex Vreeland, Bryana Langenderfer, Adrienne Struble, Alisyn Shaffer all 1-2. Gigax took the victory for Wauseon while Delilah Taylor took the loss for the lady Bears, (8-8). After a short interlude; the Lady Bears took on the Archbold Blue Streaks who 6 weeks ago run ruled us 12-2 after going into the top of the 6th tied at 2-2. This time there was a different result, the Lady Bears beat the same Blue Streak team 9-4 in 7 innings, and left bases loaded twice in the fifth and sixth or we would have run ruled them. As a team the Lady Bears hit .469, individually: Delilah Taylor went 2-3 one single and a double, Bre Long 2-4, Alex Vreeland 1-3 a double, Jaelyn Hall 2-4, Olivia Moore 2-3, Alisyn Shaffer 2-4, Adrienne Struble 2-3, Kenzie Adams 2-4. Bre Long took the Victory playing an excellent defensive game as well pitching well, 9 hits, 4 runs-- 3 earned, 2 BB and 7 k’s, throwing 70% strikes the Bears had 5 passed balls and 2 errors for the game. The girls felt good about their turn around from game one and even better about beating Archbold soundly! For the 17 game season the Lady Bears hit .409 as a team, 4 girls hitting over .500 and 6 girls hitting over .400, 2 hitting over .300 We got better defensively over the season. We also generally, got better at running the bases and our plate approach.
