Community Reviews Two Possible Site Plans

On July 14, 2014, Beilharz Architects presented two site plans for community review.  Both site plans include renderings of the PreK to 5 building and the approximate location of the new 6 to 12 building.  Both plans detail future development for the site, including a transportation center, an auditorium, and an additional gymnasium.

One of the plans, Scheme A, shows a building that utilizes a courtyard and a circular traffic pattern within the building.  Scheme B is shows without a courtyard and utilizes a slightly larger footprint.

Over 80 community members attended the meeting to provide feedback to the Board of Education and the architects.  In order to continue the conversation from the meeting, please click on the link shown here to share your thoughts on the two proposed site plans.

A Message from the Superintendent

First and foremost, our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies go out to the victims’ families, school district and the entire Connecticut community that experienced the most recent school shooting.  This type of event certainly causes many of us to pause and reflect on the many things that we may normally take for granted.

It is important to note that Bryan City Schools have worked collaboratively and in cooperation with the Bryan City Police Department and the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, as well as first responders in the development and implementation of safety and security strategies.

Bryan City Schools will be providing assistance to local families looking for resources and additional information to assist in coping with this tragedy.  With the assistance of our Crisis Intervention Team, resources and websites will be posted here for families to access at home as needed.

While we understand that an event like this can happen anywhere, Bryan City Schools, in cooperation with many other agencies and entities, continue to be diligent about providing as safe a learning environment as possible.

Please click here to read the letter for additional information on specific actions Bryan City Schools takes to ensure the safety of our children.

CENSUS DAY 2010 - APRIL 1
The U.S. Census has mailed census forms nationwide during the last few weeks in anticipation of Census Day 2010 – Thursday, April 1 – the day everyone residing in the United States must be counted. Every year, the federal government can allocate more than $300 billion to states and communities based, in part, on census data. This, of course, affects school budgets – including the distribution of Title 1 funding – and college grant and loan programs. Community planners use census data to determine where to build new schools, develop public transportation and create new roads. Additionally, census results affect our voting districts and state representation in Congress. A complete count in Ohio is critical, so please remind families in your community about this important civic responsibility.

Studies show that children who are behind in reading at the end of the grade three will have a hard time in all subjects in the fourth grade and beyond. After that, it can be hard for a child to ever catch up in school. Click here to read the rest of this article.
