Bears Fall To Bowling Green 2-3

Within a tense couple of hours, Bowling Green got the best of our Bryan Bears today. In our last home match of the season, we fell to the Bobcats 2-3. On two bright notes, freshman Brendan Reiser showed what that he can play smart and elite tennis. Although falling in two sets 4-6 4-6, he fought for every single point.  "I felt like Reiser grew up in front of our eyes out there," assistant coach Nathan Keel commented, "he played beyond his years and it creates a bunch of excitement for the next couple of seasons." Also, our first doubles team of Logan King and Colt Arthur finish out their regular season together undefeated. When asked about his final home match, Arthur replied, "It felt great to get this win but we know our work isn't done yet." On Thursday, varsity tennis travels to Defiance College for a chance at making it past the sectional round.

After a long and competitive day of tennis, Bryan finished 3rd in the 2017 NBTL League Tournament on Friday. After every match was completed, there was a 4-way tie for first place that included Ada, Archbold, Bryan, and Wauseon. A first tiebreaker (head to head) resulted in no further action. A second tiebreaker (net games won) rendered Ada our 2017 NBTL League Champion. 2. Wauseon 3. Bryan 4. Archbold 5. Rossford 6. Ayersville.

Keegan McCashen took home the 3rd singles crown after playing two intense 3 set matches. "I can't say enough about this kid," Coach Humbarger said, "he could  be missing half of his shots but he'll still have a smile on his face because he loves the game. I think his mindset is why he has been able to overcome his challenges this season, especially today."

All teams, coaches, and athletic directors would like to thank D.C. Tennis and administration for allowing us to use their facilities and accommodating our tournament this season.

Bryan picks up another win, extending the streak to 7 in a row after a 0-2 start to the season.
Junior Ethan Deel picks up his first varsity win at 2nd singles today. Deel is at the courts even when he doesn't have to be, he has a great work ethic, and he's always willing to step up when we need him. He's the type of player we're always looking for.

After a rain out on Thursday, the boys of Bryan tennis pulled out a close win against Springfield on Friday by a score of 3-2. When speaking of the win, Assistant Coach Keel praised the team, "Our guys keep finding another level right when we need it."

Bears Over Wauseon
With identical records, Bryan and Wauseon showed how evenly matched they truly were with the Bears pulling out the close victory, winning by a score of 3-2. Both doubles teams won sets after being down 2-5 and the team used that momentum to help power us to the close win. Bryan travels to Van Wert on Thursday.
Winning for the Bears Kolling Klinger at 3rd singles. Logan King and Colta Arthur at 1st doubles and Will Jackson and Isaac Bowers at 2nd doubles.
Notable JV matches: Senior Atland Sayarath remains the only undefeated player on the 18 man roster, extending his career record to 4-0, winning his singles match by a score of 8-3.

Bryan defeats Defiance by a team score of 5-0.

As a first year player, senior Daniel Borland has taken it upon himself to go all in for his only tennis season. Borland got his first career win playing the closest match possible, literally. Ties in the first and second set had to be settled by tiebreakers, with both players taking one a piece. With the sun going down in a matter of minutes, both coaches chose to have the players decide the third set by a super tiebreak. Daniel hung tough, continued to grind, and won the tiebreak 10-8. If there is a cool way to win you first match, that's it!
