2018-19 Junior High Winter Sports

7th Girls Fall In Finals to Liberty Center

The 7th grade girls basketball team fell to Liberty Center 31-22 in the championship game on Saturday morning.  Kailee Thiel lead the way for the Bears with 10 points and Marlee Yoder had 5.  They end their season with a 13-3 record.  Congrats girls and keep working!

7th Girls Head To NWOAL Championship Game

The Bryan 7th grade girls defeated Patrick Henry last night 29-10 to advance to the NWOAL tournament finals.  Molly Hess lead the way for the Bears with 10 points and Marlee Yoder had 5.  The championship game will tip off at 9:00 am Saturday morning at Liberty Center against LC.

8th Boys Fall in Tournament Play

Bryan 8th grade basketball fell to an undefeated Archbold team 42-18 in the NWOAL semifinals. Dylan Dominque led the way with 9 points. Bryan finishes their season with a 7-7 record.

JH Basketball Tournament Time

Bryan 7th Boys played in the NWOAL Tournament fall to Patrick Henry 33-18.

Bryan 8th grade basketball defeated Evergreen in NWOAL tournament action 50-40. Dylan Dominque went 9/10 from the free throw line and finished with 14 points. Evan Cox added 3 threes for 9 points. Austin Koch and Parker Vollmer had great games rebounding the basketball and finished with 9 and 4 points respectively. Ayden Pelz limited Evergreen’s great guard play with a great defensive effort and both Ryan Dunn and Trevor Mason hit a 3 for the Bears. Bryan returns to action Thursday in the NWOAL semifinals against Archbold.

The Bryan 7th Grade girls defeated Evergreen in the first round of the NWOAL tournament 17-15. It was a great defensive effort by the team. Ella Voigt had 6 points and Molly Hess had 4 to lead the Bears. The girls return to action Thursday in the semi-finals at Archbold.

Bryan 8th grade girls took on the host Liberty Center tigers and went down to defeat 33-9. Blayze Langenderfer had 5 points and Alli Alspaugh added 4. We end our season with a 4-10 record.

Wrestlers Compete At NWOAL Tournament

JH Wrestlers competed in the NWOAL Championship Tournament on Saturday. Placing for the Bears was 1st place Malachi Collins, 4th place Justin Epling, 5th place Dominique Bherns and Lane Hulbert.

7th and 8th Boys Split with Ottawa JH

Bryan’s 7th grade boys lost 19-13 to Ottawa Junior High on Saturday in Ottawa.  Ottawa only had 2 seventh grade players so the boys faced 8th grade boys for both of the only 2 quarters that were played.  Sam Herold led the Bears with 6 points, with 5 bears scoring 2 apiece to account for the other 10 points scored.  Bryan was 4 for 9 from the charity stripe.

All 12 boys that dressed got to play, and the boys played very well against the older team.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball defeated Ottawa 53-41 on Saturday. Evan Cox and Dylan Dominque both had 15 points. Ayden Pelz added 7 points. Eli Breckler chipped in 6 points and 6 rebounds. Parker Vollmer and Austin Koch each added 4 points. Bryan is back in action Tuesday at home against Archbold.

7th and 8th Boys Over Liberty Center

The Bryan 7th grade boys basketball team notched a league victory Thursday at home against Liberty Center, 46-43.  Noah Huard led Bryan with 19 points, Jace Kepler had 12, Maddox Langenderfer 11 and Dylan New added 2 points for the Bryan totals.  

Liberty Center led Bryan 33-29 at the end of the third quarter, but the Bryan boys pressed Liberty Center coming out at the beginning of the final stanza and took the lead quickly and never looked back.  Bryan forced 13 turnovers and only turned the ball over 6 times themselves, and Kepler made 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball defeated Liberty Center 36-26 on Thursday. Evan Cox led the way with 12 points. Dylan Dominque added 10 and Parker Vollmer chipped in with 6. Bryan evened their NWOAL record at 3-3.

Bryan plays Defiance at home on Tuesday in a non-league contest.

7th and 8th Girls Fall to Liberty Center

The 7th Grade Lady Bears struggled offensively in the second half against Liberty Center last night. Bryan went down 26 - 12.  The girls return to action Tuesday at Defiance. 

8th girls traveled to Liberty Center and ran into an aggressive Tiger team and came home on the losing end 37-17. Blayze Langenderfer led the way  with 8 points Alli Alspaugh chipped in 4. The Lady Bears are back in action Tuesday at Defiance.

7th and 8th Boys 

Bryan 7th grade boys basketball team went down to defeat Tuesday night to a strong Evergreen team, 56-22.  Evergreen started fast and built a 20-2 lead and the Bears couldn’t recover from the deficit.  Maddox Langenderfer led Bryan with 6 points, Jace Kepler and Sam Herold had 4 each.  Drew Hahn played well coming off a knee injury, with Eliyas Oberlin and Aiden Shellenberger getting to the free throw line and playing well defensively.  “The boys played much better in the third quarter, limiting turnovers and playing better team defense,” Coach Snavely commented. “We’ll get in the gym tomorrow and work to get better.”

Bryan is back in action on Thursday at home against Liberty Center.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball fell to Evergreen 44-35.  Dylan Dominque led the way for Bryan with 17 points.  Parker Vollmer and Tyler Spisak both added 5 points in the loss.  Bryan returns to action Thursday at home against Liberty Center.

7th Win, 8th Lose to Hicksville

The 7th grade girls basketball team beat Hicksville in two quarters last night 18-9.  
Leading the way for the Lady Bears were Ella Voigt and Kailee Thiel with 6 points each, Molly Hess had 4 and Marah Smith had 2.  The girls return to action at Liberty Center on Thursday. 

Bryan 8th grade Lady Bears battled back from a 15 point halftime deficit to cut the lead to 2 points before falling to Hicksville 32-28. Blayze Langenderfer tossed in 23 points to lead the way. Alli Alspaugh added 3 and Lizzy Long 2. The girls are back in action Thursday at Liberty Center. 

7th and 8th Girls Basketball Split  With Napoleon

The Bryan 7th grade girls team improved to 10-1 on the season by defeating Napoleon last night 46 - 10.  Leading scorers for the Lady Bears were Kailee Thiel with 15, Molly Hess with 9, and Ella Voigt with 8 points. The girls final home game will be Monday against Hicksville.

Bryan 8th grade girls we defeated by Napoleon 35-15. Leading scorer for Bryan was Blayze Langenderfer with 11 points. We are back in action Monday night when we host Hicksville.

The junior high boys are back in action Monday against to Tinora.

Bryan defeated Napoleon 42-39 to even their record to 4-4. Evan Cox led the way with 15 points, all in the fourth quarter. Dylan Dominique added 11. Ayden Pelz and Parker Vollmer each chipped in 7 points and Ryan Dunn added 2 points. Bryan returns to action Monday at home against Tinora.

Junior High Plays Patrick Henry

Bryan’s 7th grade boys lost to Patrick Henry in Hamler on Thursday, 48-28. The league loss puts Bryan’s squad at 0-2 in the NWOAL, and 4-3 on the year.

Leading the way offensively were Dylan Koenig with 7 points, all in a single quarter, and Sam Herold had 11. All 12 Bryan players got into the game, and Eli Schlade, Luke Mossburg and Ethan Spradlin played a solid 4th quarter, in which the Bears outscored the Patriots.

Bryan returns to action after the New Year at Napoleon on January 3rd.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball fell to Patrick Henry 35-17 on Thursday. Parker Vollmer and Ayden Pelz both had 6 points.

The Bryan 7th grade girls team beat Patrick Henry last night 21-9. It was a great defensive effort by the team. Kailee Thiel led the Bears in scoring with 11 points and Ella Rau was perfect from the free throw line going 4-4. This improves the girls to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the league.

The Bryan 8th grade girls fell to Patrick Henry 33-17. Blayze Langenderfer scored 9 and Alli Alspaugh added 8. The Bears are off until after the new year.

Junior High Sweep Delta

The Bryan 7th grade girls defeated Delta last night 34-18.  Leading scorers for the Bears were Ella Voigt with 11, Kailee Thiel with 7, and Ella Rau with 6.  This improves the team to 7-1 this season. They host P.H. Thursday.

Bryan 8th grade girls hosted Delta and held on for a tight 31-28 victory. Blayze Langenderfer led the way with 16 points and Alli Alspaugh chipped in 11. The Lady Bears welcome Patrick Henry on Thursday. The girls record now stands at 4-4 on the season.

The Bryan boys 7th grade basketball squad defeated Delta 32-29 in Delta Tuesday evening.  The league game was very tight the entire second half, but the Bryan hoopsters found a way to hang on to preserve the win down the stretch.
Sam Herold led the Bears scoring with 12 points, Maddox Langenderfer tossed in 10 points, while Karter Brown and Jase Kepler each had 4 points. 
The Golden Bears didn’t attempt a single free throw the entire game, and committed only six total fouls, both firsts for the young squad.  Aiden Shellenberger and Dylan New gave quality efforts defensively, and Dylan Koenig played well running the point guard position in his first start.
The Bears are now 4-2 on the season, and 1-1 in the NWOAL.  The team travels to Hamler to take on the Patrick Henry Patriots on Thursday.

Bryan eighth grade boys basketball defeated Delta 43-40 to even their record at 3-3. Dylan Dominique led the way with 14 points. Ayden Pelz added 8. Evan Cox has 7 points while Trevor Mason and Parker Vollmer both added 6. Bryan is back in action Thursday at Patrick Henry.

7/8 Girls Basketball Defeat Otsego

The 7th grade Bryan girls team defeated Otsego 63-8. All twelve players on the team scored. Leading the Bears were Marah Smith with 12, Ella Rau with 11, Kailee Thiel with 8, and Ella Voigt and Tab Taylor each had 6. This improves their record to 6-1. Next game is at home on Tuesday against Delta.

Bryan 8th grade girls defeated Otsego 29-11. Leading scorers were Blayze Langenderfer with 14 and Kailee Thiel 8. Natalie Noble chipped in 4. The girls are 3-4 going into next Tuesdays game with Delta.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball picked up their first win of the season 49-22 over Swanton. Dylan Dominque led a balanced scoring effort with 15 points. Ayden Pelz added 10. Trevor Mason and Evan Cox  had 6. Reese Brown and Austin Koch both added 5.

The Bryan 7th grade girls basketball team improved to 5-1 on the season by defeating Swanton last night 27-10. The Lady Bears were lead in scoring by Kailee Thiel with 14 points and Ella Voigt and Marah Smith each chipped in 5.  The girls return to action on Saturday morning at Otsego. 

Bryan 8th grade girls traveled to Swanton and went down to defeat in a closely contested game 25-21. Alli Allspaugh led the girls with 16 and Blayze Langenderfer chipped in 5. We are back in action Saturday at Otsego.

7/8 Boys and Girls Play Paulding

The 7th grade girls Bryan basketball team had a nice team win last night and defeated Paulding 44-7.  Leading the Bears in scoring were Kailee Thiel with 10 points and Calysta Wasson and Ella Voigt each had 8 points.  Bryan girls return to action at Swanton on Thursday. 

Bryan 8th grade girls defeated Paulding 30-25. Blayze Langenderfer lead the way with 16 and Alli Allspaugh added 8. The Lady bears are back in action Thursday at Swanton.

Bryan’s 7th Grade boys handed the Paulding Panthers a loss in Bryan yesterday, 34-14.  It was Bryan’s first win on the season, taking their record to 1-2.  Jase Kepler led the Bears in scoring with 13 points, including all 7 of the points Bryan scored in the first quarter.  Noah Huard chipped in 10, Sam Herold had 4, and Dylan New, Maddox Langenderfer and Karter Brown each notched a basket to round out Bryan’s scoring.  Ethan Spradlin and Eli Schlade were solid off the bench in the second half defensively, Aiden Shellenberger had 4 rebounds and Dylan Koenig provided great ball handling down the stretch.

Bryan 8th grade basketball fell to Paulding 35-29. Dylan Dominique has 18 points while Ayden Pelz added 5 and Parker Vollmer had 4.

Girls Split With Wauseon

The 7th grade girls basketball team picked up another nice league win last night defeating Wauseon 40-16.  Kailee Thiel led the Bears with 15 points, Ella Voigt had 9 and Tabithah Taylor had 6.  Bryan will be back in action on Monday at Paulding.

Bryan 8th grade girls took on Wauseon and lost 33-15. Leading scorers for Bryan were Blayze Langenderfer with 7 and Kailee Thiel with 5 points. The girls are back in action Monday at Paulding.

Boys Lose To Wauseon

Bryan’s 7th Grade Boys team lost 44-12 in Wauseon on Thursday.  Noah Huard led Bryan’s scoring with 4 points.  Dylan New had 2 points and Jase Kepler was 2 for 2 from the free throw line.  Luke Mossburg and Isayah Oberlin played well defensively.

Bryan 8th grade boys basketball fell to Wauseon 48-25 on Thursday. Parker Vollmar scored 6 points in the loss.

7/8 Girls Defeat Evergreen

The 7th grade girls basketball team defeated Evergreen last night by the score of  39 -8.  Leading scorers for Bryan were Ella Voigt with 13, Kailee Thiel with 8 and Wasson, Fireovid, and Taylor each had 4 points.  The Bears are back in action on Thursday at home against Wauseon.
Bryan hosted Evergreen tonight and came away with a 41-9 victory. Leading scorers for the Lady Bears were Blayze Langenderfer with 12 points followed by Alli Allspaugh with 11. Emma Shinninger and Molly Hess chipped in 6 each. Bryan is back in action on Thursday hosting Wauseon.

7/8 Boys and Girls Fall to Fairview

Bryan 7th Grade boys lost to Fairview 41-29 in their season opener.  Jase Kepler led the Bears with 10 points, Karter Brown and Noah Huard each had a pair of 3 point shots for 6 points, and Sam Herold had 5 to round out the Bears scoring.  Dylan New had 4 rebounds, and Maddox Langenderfer had 3 rebounds for the team.

Defensively, Dylan Koenig and Aiden Shellenberger played well, helping create 6 turnovers and two steals during the game.

The 7th grade Bryan girls basketball team was defeated by Fairview last night by the score of 14-13.  Tabithah Taylor, Kailee Thiel, and Ella Voigt all had 4 points for the Bears.  They will return to action on Tuesday at home against Evergreen.

Bryan 8th grade girls fell to Fairview 45-18. Leading scorer for Bryan was Blayze Langenderfer with 9 points. Ella Voigt chipped in 4 and Lizzy Long 3. The girls are back in action tomorrow against Evergreen.

7/8 Girls Basketball Take On Edgerton

The 7th grade girls basketball team defeated Edgerton last night by the score of 26 - 15. Leading scorers for Bryan were Ella Voigt with 8, Molly Hess with 6 and Kailee Thiel with 5. The Bears are back in action on Monday at home against Fairview.

Edgerton 8th grade defeated Bryan 35 -27. Leading scorers were Blayze Langenderfer with 11, Kailee Thiel 8 and Ella Voigt 6. The Ladybears are back in action Monday vs Fairview
