SCHOOL CLOSED NO VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention to all Junior and Seniors - the deadline for the October 28th ACT is THIS Friday, September 22nd.  Students can register online at www.actstudent.org.  Please see a school counselor if you have questions. (9/22)

 

Freshmen t-shirts are for sale Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday this week.  Cost is $12. See Mr. Bentley in Room 128 to order.  Payment must be made at the time of purchase.  Cash preferred.  Any checks can be made out to Bryan High School. (9/20)

 

If you are a sophomore and want a class t-shirt, you can place an order with Mrs. Johnson before school, after school, or during AA in room 120. Shirts are 10 dollars and must be placed by Thursday at 3pm. Get em ordered! (9/21)

 

Any junior high or high school boy interested in trying out for basketball this winter, there will be an informational meeting on Thursday, September 21st during AA on the teaching stairs. (9/21)

 

There is a meeting for any high school student interested in Academic League on Thursday during AA. That meeting will be in A234 which is Mrs. Heslop’s room. (9/21)

 

High school FCA will meet every Friday starting this week in Mrs. Mazur’s room at 7:30 before school. All are welcome! (9/21)

 

There are still a few 7th and 12 grade students that need to turn in an updated immunization record. If you received shots over the summer we need a copy of your shot record. If you have not received the immunizations, they need to be obtained as soon as possible and an updated copy brought to the school office. (9/26)

 

Attention Students:  Starting Monday, September 25 and continuing through Friday, September 29th we will be collecting canned and non-perishable goods to help fill Bear Bags that are distributed to students in our school district.  This campaign will be included as one of your homecoming competitions. The class that brings in the most canned goods over the course of the week will earn 10 points toward their Overall Homecoming Week Score.  2nd place will earn 8 points, 3rd place will earn 6 points and 4th place will earn 3 points.  Start gathering your canned goods and get ready to win a contest! Canned goods can be dropped off in front of Mrs. Elser room (231) each morning from 7:30am - 8:00am.  (9/28)

 

Bryan 7th grade volleyball defeated Delta in 2 hard fought sets, 25-21 and 29-27. Tristyn Durdel led the team in serving,  13 for 13, with 3 aces. Kaci Alspaugh had 1 dig and 1 kill. Maya Keil had 1 dig and Blayze Langenderfer had 1 dig. The Jr High teams play at Wauseon on Thursday. 

 

8th grade volleyball defeated Delta in two sets, 25-12, 25-15. Leading servers for Bryan were Gwen Spengler 17-19, Jordan Beck 9-10, and Addison Arnold 6-8. Ellyn Murphy had 2 kills and Malerri Fry, Makenna Gry, Amaiah Valderas and Addison Arnold each had 1.

 

Bryan Varsity Girls Soccer (4-4-2) scored 3 second half goals to beat Continental by a score of 3-0. Bryan's goals came from senior Allye Minor, Jess Mueller, and Baylee Krupp. Krupp and freshman Maci Tinkel recorded assists. Meggie Voigt recorded 5 saves in goal. Bryan is off until Monday when they travel to Napoleon for a 6pm kickoff.

 

Swanton defeated Bryan: 23-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-22

Sophie Smith: 6 kills, 5 digs

Whitney Whetro: 8 kills, 13 assist

Kailtynn Antigo: 17/17 serving, 6 kills

Madi Johnson: 5 kills

 

Bryan Varsity is now 9-3 and 3-1 in league play. Bryan JV defeated Swanton. Bryan Freshman defeated Swanton.

The rehearsal calendar and crew list has been posted on the Google Classroom for Alice in Wonderland.  Thursday's meeting is for CREW HEADS only.  They will contact their crews next week with information on getting started. (9/18)

The junior high cross country team competed in the Blue/Gold Invitational hosted by Ottawa Glandorf. The boys finished in 4th place out of 17 teams and the girls finished 5th out of 14 teams. Leading the way for the boys were Joshua Taylor with a 2nd place finish with a time of 11:21, Nathan Hess finished 16th, Quinn Brown finished 18th, Aiden Andrews finished 93rd and Evan Cox placed 103. 

For the girls, Allie Zimmerman lead the way finishing in 7th place with a time of 13:29. Other top finishers were McKenzie Adams in 78th, Emilee Bassett in 88th, and Katie Seaman in 94th.

In high school action over the weekend, we will kick it off with the barn burner right here at Golden Bear Stadium on Friday night. The Bears came down from a 17 point deficit in the 4th quarter to defeat Swanton by a score of 27-24. Zach Nobis threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns while also running for a score. Evan Smith had 11 catches for 152 yards and Brycen Andrews had 5 catches for 132 yards. The team plays at Wauseon this Friday. 

The JV football team trekked to Swanton on a foggy Saturday morning to only come up short by a score of 20-8. Despite forcing multiple turnover, the Bears could not elude the Bulldogs efforts. Cannon Lamberson scored the lone TD for the young Golden Bears squad. 

How about that Bryan Golf team? They must be butter, cause they’re on a roll. Bryan placed 1st in the Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday.  Placing 2nd was Case Harman with a 72. 3rd place tie was Peyton Lamberson.  Connor Shirkey had a 75 good for a 5th place tie. 

Bryan Varsity Girls Soccer beat visiting Miller City on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-0. All 7 goals were accounted for by senior strikers Allye Minor who scored 4 goals and Gracie Voigt also had a hat trick. Assists came from Voigt, Baylee Krupp, Maddie Reiser, McKenna Grube, and Meggie Voigt. 

Bryan also won the JV match 7-0. Goals came from Ericka Borland with 4, Emma Hurtt with 2, and Madison Shepherd added another. Assists came from Shepherd, Cristy Garza, and Alissa DeWitt. Bryan travels to Continental on Tuesday evening for a 5pm kickoff.

The varsity Volleyball team also had another solid outing, finishing in 2nd place at the OIO Bath Volleyball Invite in Lima. The Lady Bears defeated the host, Lima Bath, along with Old Fort. In the title game, the ladies fell just short to St. Henry. Whitney Whetro led the Bears with 18 kills and 15 assists on the day, Jess Robb added 15 kills, while Kaitlynn Antigo had 10 blocks, 3 kills and was 12 of 13 serving. 

The high school cross country teams also traveled to OG on Saturday morning. The boys finished in 10th place and the girls finished in 6th place. Austin Johnson paced the boys team with an 11th place overall finish while Andrew Knight finished 48th and Ethan Cox in 52nd place. 

Audrey Zimmerman placed 2nd overall for the girls to lead the way. Brittney Willis placed 10th, and Adrienne Struble was 27th. The teams will run next Saturday at Van Wert.

What a great weekend to be a Golden Bear. Now lets top it off with a great week of classes!
